With a growing profile in corporate transactions, Estudio Garrido is admired by rivals for having a good spread of local and international clients. In describing managing partner Gustavo Enrique Garrido, one peer says, "He has a profile that I like, many international clients, pro-deal, knows the law and knows the political field. That's the type of style I think Argentina needs."

Clients also appreciate Garrido's knowledge of the financial market. "Gustavo is really plugged into the private-equity market in Argentina," one client says, "so he's not only a great source of legal work but of deal information as well."

One such client is Advent International, and in 2009 Garrido advised the private-equity firm's spinoff of Argentine courier service OCA. Advent acquired the distressed company in 2004 and after an intensive financial and operational restructuring sold it to the current management.

In another recent innovative deal Garrido structured the sale of Argentine software developer Cubika to multinational software company GlobalLogic. The $6 million cash/equity deal included special conditions in the event of an IPO by the purchaser.
